The University of Cádiz Foundation, in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Welding and Joining Technologies,, Cesol, offers the first course in Spain for Additive Manufacturing Operator using Directed Energy Deposition by Arc (DED-Arc), with access to international accreditation. The course, consisting of 250 hours, is offered in its first edition in a face-to-face format. It will be held at the recently inaugurated UCA-SEA Innovation Center of the University of Cádiz in Algeciras. FundUCA and Cesol have designed this course to meet the specifications set by the International Additive Manufacturing Qualification System (IAMQS) of the European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting (EWF) for obtaining the international DED-Arc operator diploma.
The demand for skilled professionals in advanced manufacturing techniques is increasing. In recent decades, additive manufacturing, commonly known as 3D printing, has experienced significant growth. This field has evolved from simple prototyping applications to the full production of functional components in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and medicine. A specific technique within additive manufacturing is Directed Energy Deposition using electric arc (DED-Arc), which enables the construction of complex metal parts with high material efficiency and design flexibility. According to market studies, the additive manufacturing sector is expected to grow substantially in the coming years. Training operators in DED-Arc will not only meet this growing demand but also enable local companies to adopt and adapt to these advanced technologies, staying competitive in a global market.
